Ta'te Meiko
Meiko
The origins of Meiko come from world building with friends: a lonely priestess devoted to a wind serpent. Now, I'm revisiting her character design and lore to become a League of Legends champion with intrigue and playability.

Original Design for Meiko from 2019
Redesigning Round 1
In 2021 I revisited Meiko and added some more details to her design, but it still didn't feel like I wanted it to for a wind priestess or quality of a MOBA character.
Redesigning Round 2
On the left is the result of the first design revisions while the right is where I landed with these, however some parts will be simplified going forward
I decided to move forward with the values from 'D'
When speaking with others about their opinions for color compositions, many leaned towards the bottom row and 'F' in specific.
With further input from others I came to these final colors based on the values and colors from 'F' in the previous line-up while matching the idea of a 'wind priestess' the best.

Next up: what kind of face paint best represented the idea I was going for.
Additional Facial Details
I decided to move forward with the design from 'A'
A quick pass at what the design so far might look like in game.
The Bell
The bell is, of course, a huge part of Meiko's lore and important to her silhouette.

I explored a few ideas of what her bell would be, knowing I wanted it to be something she could hold but also appear rather unwieldy.

The design I'm most drawn to is based on japanese Bonsho with the rope handle as it feels thematically relevant and unique.

Now comes the work to choose the colors of the bell to make sure it looks weathered but still visible against a background like Summoner's Rift.

The Demon
Some preliminary sketches for demon Meiko.
I knew I wanted 'goat' features and something that is an alteration of her base design without looking too clean.
